My name is Shirley Grossman, and I'm reaching out to you because you were a dear friend of my late daughter, Eve Grossman Bukowski. Eve cherished your friendship enough to keep you in her personal contact list. As you know, she was deeply passionate about the world, democracy, and the next generation. I’m writing to keep that passion alive, and I’m asking for your generous support. Let me share what we’re doing in Eve’s honor.

Eve left us too soon, before she could see much of her good work come to fruition. She discovered her cancer while campaigning for Hillary Clinton in 2007 and passed away before seeing Biden elected in 2020. She fought her illness and fought for good in the world, and I know she would want to continue that fight if she were here today.

The Eastern Washington where Eve grew up has become a stronghold for MAGA and the Christian patriot movement. Over 80% of our residents have never heard a pro-democratic message, and our youth are drowning in far-right rhetoric. Young voters here are three times more likely to support Trump than Biden. Eastern Washington’s population includes politically disenfranchised groups like Latinos and Native Americans, and the division is deeper than ever before. I am on a mission, with Rural Americans United, to bridge that divide.

Rural Americans United was founded to cultivate a rural America where justice, inclusion, and informed voices prevail. We achieve this through bold, common-sense programs that reach out to overlooked groups, providing them with the knowledge and inspiration to engage with the political process, take control of their lives, and help move our nation forward, where everyone is respected and can thrive.

Our latest project delivered twenty million pro-democratic radio impressions to deep rural communities, reaching many who heard a voice of hope for the first time.

Why do we focus on the disenfranchised? Because in rural areas like ours, their numbers are significant—upwards of forty percent of voters—and can shift elections. It’s both strategically sound and morally right.

Personally, I am deeply invested in “The Granny Caravan: Unity Road Tour.” My dear friend Roz and I are visiting seventeen towns in Eastern Washington, sharing information, hosting listening sessions, and helping voters understand that democracy is too precious to let extremist views divide us.

The work we do in Eastern Washington will shape the future for people in rural communities nationwide. Rural Americans United is a PAC using innovative methods to transform the rural landscape and restore democratic values. Our work reaches millions of people in need, and it’s making a difference.

Think of Eve and her unwavering commitment to democracy. Imagine how she would feel knowing that people in her hometown are so afraid of their MAGA neighbors that they won’t even put up a Democratic yard sign. Please give generously; we need your help to ensure a safer future.
